#1 DEATH BIRD ....... HAWKER’S STREET GUTTER
Damascus, sterling silver, bronze, chittum burl, Madagascar ebony. A stabbing tip and a “Bone Crusher” butt make this hook shaped fighter deadly close in. The added mass of the bird skull butt piece gives more power when thrusting.
#2 DAEMON SPIKE ....... ARENA FIGHTER
Damascus, 22K gold, shakudo, sterling silver, bronze, sea cow bone, Madagascar ebony. This is a heavy flat forged blade with the “shear” of blades twice it’s length and a strong stabbing tip. It is drawn from my last Daryl Meier billet.
#3 FAMILY JEWELS ....... BALLROOM DAG
Damascus, red gold, 97 carat gem grade “Nigerian Green” tourmaline, wooly mammoth ivory. For Ballroom or dark street rendezvous, this Dag has a slender blade with a double ringed hilt. Small enough for cloak or muff, long enough to put the end to any affair.
#4 EASY MONEY ....... STIRRUP DAG
Damascus, bronze, wooly mammoth bone, wooly mammoth ivory. The poison grooved blade is rotated 90 degrees to be in a natural position for insertion between ribs. The ball of the butt is made to fit snugly in the palm of your hand, with the ring giving purchase for “pulling it out”.
#5 SPARE CHANGE ....... PURSE CUTTER
Damascus, sterling silver, carnelian, sambar stag. Small enough to be carried in pocket or garter, a good friend when the banks are closed.
#6 CLAIM JUMPER ....... POKER FLATS SAND BAR FIGHTER
Damascus, natural gold nuggets, sterling silver, bronze, cave bear tooth (80,000 yr. old lower right canine), wooly mammoth femur bone. The first two contemporary knife makers’ works I saw were by Bob Loveless and D.E. Henry. Bob’s sub-hilt fighters and D. E.’s flat finished Bowies said “Art” to me in 1969. This is my version of a flat finished, sub-hilt Bowie.
#7 TEAR FLESH ....... PUNCH DAG
Damascus, bronze, musk ox horn. This is named after the classical Japanese “Watakusi” broadhead point.
The Damascus billet for these pieces was made by Daryl Meir and Steve Schwarzer and forged to shape by me. All fittings are solid gold, silver or bronze. Scabbards are hard leather with fittings to match blades in gold, sterling silver and bronze.
